Valles Calchaquíes

Corralito - Cafayate, Argentine Northwest

Duration: 5 days / 4 nights

Level: Intermediate and Advanced

Saddle and crossbred horses (criollo base)

Explore the magnitude of the Valles Calchaquíes.

What mesmerizes us about this expedition is the constant change of landscapes: as you advance, slowly but surely through the ravines and valleys, the earth and its colors change constantly. Copper, valleys in shades of green, red sand dunes, 20-meter high walls, open steppes, river, basins.

The day before the expedition, we will welcome you in Chicoana, a town a few km away from Salta capital for a calm landing and a warm welcome at our family estate.

The next day, we move to our starting point: a picturesque country post. There, we will make a first “familiarization” ride where we will enter the Quebradas de Salamanca and understand why this area is known as the Water Canyon.

We will return to the accommodation to enjoy a homemade meal based on the regional dishes of this area of the country. A picada, a good wine, stars and a mud oven to close a first day immersed in the calm of the hills.

The next morning starts with a full country breakfast, and begins our 8-hour journey to the rural post, where we will spend the night.

On the third day, we will start with a country breakfast and then return in vehicles to an authentic Salta hotel, built in 1892 to relax and recover, with the possibility of a guided tour through the iconic vineyard along with a tasting.

The Essence of the Journey

The constant change of landscape. Rarely with Cam have we experienced such diversity, colors and views in the same journey. The amplitude/extension of the spaces, the altitude, the land: it is like changing maps every stretch. Finding spaces where one feels in the middle of nowhere is a privilege today. Enjoying skies full of stars, a good meal and great company. Knowing and connecting with the local culture and customs is, for us, the heart of this itinerary.
